Safety Nets

The safety nets comply with BSEN 1263-1 standard and are made from polyproplene, the modern material which gives a high energy absorption together with durable use, knotless net with a 100mm mesh size.  All safety nets are backed by a full history with certificates to show full compliance with the BSEN 1263-1 standard.  Safety nets should be tested yearly to continue to comply to the standard.  They come with 3 test pieces as standard.  Test pieces are set to an independant test house.  Safety nets are tested for a 100kg person falling 6m.  Rope ties comply with the BSEN 1263-1 standard.

Stocks of certain sizes are kept in stock but any size can made to suit your requirements.

Safety nets should be installed by FASET trained safety net riggers to comply with BSEN 1263-2 standard.

Vertical Netting

This netting is installed on tall buildings to stop materials blowing out.  The netting is made to suit site requirements.  The most popular netting is 16z Polypropylene knotted net, twisted x 3 strands to make a finished twine that is 1.8mm in diameter.  It is available in different mesh sizes and the nets are finished with a stisched border rope.  Several colours are available.  There are many alternatives e.g. netting with a weighted bottom.  Rope ties or other fixings available.  Spec sheets on request.

Lion-Hook

To allow the erection of EN1263-1 safety nets to the requirements of EN1263-2, suspended directly from the steel frame.  The Lion-Hook is designed to make the installation of safety nets quicker, easier and safer on Portal framed buildings, Mezzanine floors, Metal decking and C and I steel beams. 

The Lion-Hook is tested to EN1263-2 to withstands a 6kn pull at 45° .

 

 

Limitations of use:

  • The steelwork must be capable of taking a 6kn load at 45° .
  • At all times, safety nets must be installed in line with the requirements of EN1263-2 and FASET guidlines.
  • The Lion-Hook can only be attached to the lower flange of the I section or C section steel.
  • The Lion-Hook must always be fitted to the outer flange of the steel in such a way that the self weight of the net is drawing it into the steel.
  • The safety nets must be attached on all four sides,unless eaves bagging techniques are employed.
  • The Lion-Hook is not suitable for use on extreme curved roofe such as a barrel vaults.
  • The Lion-Hook cannot be used on circular sections.
  • The Lion-Hook can be used on a flange thickness of between 8mm-25mm, but at no times to be used on flange thickness of less than 8mm thick.

A 2.5m attachment pole is now available for use with the Lion-Hooks.  The pole weights just 1kg.

Redundant Safety Nets:

Varies sizes of safety nets that can no longer be used for a fall arrest system because they have not passed our stringent safety testing regime.  They can however be used for other applications e.g. skip nets.  They have a mesh size of 100mm.
